What is HID Identity?

HID Identity is an expertise group within HID Global offering secure credential services, smart card deployment tools and integration know-how. HID Global combined the talents and resources of AccessID, Synercard and the HID Card Service Bureau to launch this new unit that specializes in secure card manufacturing, identity related software and credential issuance processes.

Why did HID decide to combine AccessID and Synercard?

By merging AccessID and Synercard, HID Global has combined specialists in the design and manufacture of secure access control and identity credentials with experts in the design and development of software used to personalize, provision, and issue credentials. The result is a highly focused team with unique skills and abilities to help dealers, integrators, and OEMs provide end to end secure identity credential products and services.

How will the formation of HID Identity help end user customers?

End users will benefit by having access, through their dealer, integrator, or OEM to a group of specialists in the design, manufacturing, and development of secure access control and identification credentials. In addition to products and services, HID Identity leverages their expertise to provide assistance, advice, and guidance in the development and implementation of secure access control and identification credential programs.

How will the formation of HID Identity benefit dealers, integrators, and OEMs?

Dealers, integrators, and OEMs will now have a “one stop shop” for their secure credential and identity solution needs with additional sales, business development, and technical support resources at their disposal. For example, HID Global channel partners with major identity card projects will have access to the highest level of custom card expertise, manufacturing capability, custom software development and integration services available in the industry.

Will combining of the two organizations change the current AccessID and Synercard distribution channels?

No. Current AccessID and Synercard channel relationships will remain intact.

Does HID Identity plan to add any other new distribution channels in the future?

In the future, as the market for HID Identity products and services changes, additions the current network of channel partners will likely occur, particularly in vertical market channels and international regions.

What is the HID Card Service Bureau?

The HID Card Service Bureau is a secure credential printing service that provides fully printed, personalized, and programmed access control and ID credentials. From complete corporate rebadging projects involving tens of thousands of employees in multiple locations around the world to the occasional need for a few badges, HID’s Card Service Bureau offers complete turnkey personalization for access control cards complete with names, photos, and any other variable data including bar codes and magnetic stripe encoding.

What are HID Identity’s capabilities in the area of custom software?

HID Identity’s Asure ID software platform is capable of being integrated in its entirety or by discrete module to provide existing software applications with the desired feature set and functionality of Asure ID. In addition, HID Identity can provide the integration services necessary to complete your project.

What are HID Global’s plans for the future of HID Identity?

Current plans for HID Identity are focused in the area of the development of technology card issuance solutions with emphasis on customizing HID technology for specific vertical markets. As the overall market for identity management systems evolves, HID Identity will be constantly evaluating how our capabilities can enhance our value to customers in this space.   

How will HID Identity be organized?

HID Identity is part of the HID Global Strategy organization. It has three primary functional areas, sales and marketing, custom software and integration services, and operations and customer service.

Is HID Identity a worldwide organization?

The HID Identity organization is North America-based but works closely with HID Global resources worldwide. HID Identity products and services are available through HID Global to international customers worldwide.

What is the relationship between HID Identity and Fargo?

Fargo Electronics was acquired by HID Global in 2006, but HID Identity and Fargo are separate businesses and operate independently of one another. Because HID Identity has relationships with many of the same distribution and reseller channel partners as Fargo, the opportunity for those partners to take advantage of more fully integrated secure identity solutions is significantly enhanced.
